A few months ago, I decided to grow my own pumpkins
for the fall. I planted my seeds quickly, watered and
tended them, watched them grow quickly and ...
nothing. It's well into September now, and I have YET to
see an actual pumpkin grow.

I have plenty of vines. Plenty of beautiful yellow pumpkin
flowers. But no sign of a single pumpkin growing.

After looking online to see what in the world is going on,
I apparently planted the seeds about a month or so later
than I should have for Halloween pumpkins. My timing
was completely off in my haste and excitement.

And after speaking in North Carolina last week with
several people, I'm reminded again that this is what most
wedding pros are doing with marketing. The timing is
all wrong.

Without a well thought-out plan, research, and understanding
of your market, plus a marketing system that stays in
front of brides continuously, your timing is going to be
off more than being on track.

In fact, many of my clients come to me in the beginning,
saying that they've tried everything but nothing is working.
Well, this is never the case when we get right down to it.
You think you're doing everything, but many times there's
no real plan to your marketing, you're using one shot
advertising, and there's no real follow through.

A little-too-late marketing never ever works.

Make a plan. Research your market thoroughly. Take
major action consistently. Follow through with an
automated system. And give yourself plenty of time
to see your plan all the way through.

Its been a while since we've been here! October has been a craaaazy month! So much has happened and we still have so much to look forward too. October 10th was so busy as we had two very large and detailed weddings that we were contracted for. They were both so different in style, decor, and overall logistics, planning, etc. Although at times it seemed a bit overwhelming, we wouldn't have done anything different. We had two very, very happy brides who we will continue to be friends with long after their wedding day. It is because of brides like these that We Love Weddings!

Skin Tone?!

While reading Vogue amongst other magazines, I see that skin tone is becoming a growing concern. It seems like wrinkles are still a women's concern but now having great even skin tone without make-up is important also. There are some wonderful products that I recommend for resolving skin tone issues. Clinique has a product called "even better" , it is a skin tone corrector. I like this product for two reasons. The first is because it only takes 4-6 weeks to start seeing results; and this product works for all ethnicities. Another product that I recommend is by Shiseido, this product line which sells make-up as well, has a brightening line that works very well and gradually so you can monitoring how much lightening you are actually doing. Those are just a couple noteworthy products. I always promote skin health, I am also aware that when its time to get married us as women start to notice every little detail of ourselves. Go ahead and start a gradual change now that will reduce the stress over your pictures on the big day!!

The Knot discusses the 10 most romantic places to go on your honeymoon. I was surprised that New York was on the list. Also another US spot was Honolulu which is not much of a surprise. I think one interesting location was Prague!! I would never think of that location for a honeymoon. Read for yourself maybe it will give you a new spin on where to commensurate your marriage.

While looking a The Knot website today www.theknot.com , I saw something very interesting so I am going to share it with you. They have a blog called Wedding Obessions!! It covers hairstyles all the way to topics such as comfy wedding shoes. It is very fun blog that puts a creative spin on otherwise traditional ideas, if you are looking for something different this is an excellent place to look.

Every bride wants to look perfect on her wedding day right? Whether you are worried about flawless skin, losing a few pounds, having beautiful hair, or all the above it is important that you obtain these goals in a healthy manner. I recommend starting to work towards these goals gradually. I mentioned in a post early last week that a year is not to early to start planning your wedding, neither is it to early to start working on your wedding day appearance. Do not damage your skin with harmful rays this summer or next summer find alternatives. Test them out this year so when your wedding arrives you know method provides the look you desire. It is always important to take good care of your self but I know it is especially important during this time in your life.

Many think that if its 6-9 months till the wedding date that you still have plenty of time to plan. This is actually false. Most venues schedule anywhere from 1-2 years in advance, especially for some exclusive dates. October is always a busy month for weddings and once your date is gone, its difficult to change to a new venue when your heart was set on a particular place/atmosphere. It is important that 9-12 months before the wedding that you complete a few tasks: 1. decide on style and size of wedding 2. set your budget (very important and if other family members are contributing make sure you know the amount that they are contributing for a more accurate idea of your overall budget) 3. select a wedding consultant (remember that having a consultant independent from your venue is beneficial because this consultant works for you not the venue/caterer/florist) 4. begin shopping for your gown, headpiece, and accessories 5.arrange hair and make-up consultation 6. select reception site 7. select photographer/videographer 8. meet with clergy/officiant 9. choose members of the wedding party 10. begin guest list 11. order invitations, stationary, and save the date cards.

These are some of the first steps towards planning your wedding. Remember, doing a couple of items every couple of months will help with wedding costs along with balancing your regular monthly expenses so that you do not feel any financial burdens when planning your special day.

Everyone is talking about weddings this morning. The Tyra Show had three brides that were competing for a 12,000 dollar wedding dress. The had to dig keys out of a huge cake and the bride with the most keys gets the key to the dress. Then on the Mike and Juliet Show they had the most fun. Three couples that are competing to have their wedding on myspace. They had to perform songs for the audience. The cutest couple sang T-Pain "Buy you a drank (ring)" they made a remix!

A Day In the Life 7/27/2009

We had a wedding aug 8, which is next weekend. The MOB (mother of the bride) called to say they called the wedding off. This happens occasionally, usually its financial and they reschedule or people get cold feet. Both cases didn't apply this time. So tomorrow is a big day of trying to cancel the things we are able to. Hopefully we can catch the grower in time so they don't put the flowers we needed aside for our order. When its the close to the date of the wedding usually a bride has to fulfill her financial obligation as detailed in her contracts with each particular vendor. So we will see how it goes and if we will know the reason for the cancellation so close to the date.
